ColdFusion MX Foundations

ColdFusion is a great language. ColdFusion MX is a major step forward with ColdFusion components (CFCs), native support for XML, and tight integration with Java. This class is intended for people who want a solid foundation in both ColdFusion MX and in programming in general. Successful programming is about much more than learning syntax and constructs. This class will help you become immediately productive.

Macromedia and its partners have a FastTrack to ColdFusion that gives a good tour of the language. This is not that.

You'll come out with a thorough knowledge of arrays and structures and how you can use them to make your code simpler and cleaner.
You'll learn how to use CFCs in your code -- and how to make use of their object-like properties.
You'll learn all about loops and how to nest loops to solve knotty problems.
You'll learn how state management really works--and how to make it work for you.
You'll learn how to use ColdFusion MX's native XML parsing capabilities to make your code easier to maintain

If you're looking for depth, rather than breadth, I highly recommend this class.

All my classes have a split schedule--from 9.00 to 1.00 and resuming at 4.00 to 7.00. Why do we do that? What are you supposed to do during that time? You can do anything at all -- take a nap, read deeper into the materials provided at the class, check email, fight fires at work (uggh...). The reason for the long lunch break is that over the course of 3 or 4 days, constant, intense learning wears down students' abilities to retain information -- to make the vital connections that make for a great training class and great programmers. The long break lets the brain refresh and reload -- ready for more.
